Preventive Care Incentive Program (PCIP) Requirement

Earlier this year, UT System announced that our UT SELECT medical plan would include an annual preventive exam requirement to help support early detection and treatment of health conditions. This program also encourages patients to build and maintain a relationship with their primary care provider.

  • All enrolled employees and spouses must complete an annual preventive exam (qualifying exams listed below) between February 2026 and February 2027.
  • If a preventive exam is not on file by Feb. 28, 2027, each enrolled employee and/or spouse will begin paying a $50 monthly premium starting May 2027.

Please note: If you are a new employee or your UT SELECT coverage began Sept. 2, 2026, or later, your deadline may be different. Please review the PCIP FAQ resource to learn more about your timeline.

Find answers to common questions in the PCIP FAQ resource.

Qualifying Preventive Exams

Preventive exams are included in your UT SELECT plan and do not require a co-pay. To meet the PCIP requirement, your visit must be billed as one of these qualifying preventive exams:

  • Preventive Physical Exam
  • Routine Wellness Exam
  • Preventive Well-Woman Exam

Appointment Scheduling

If you have not completed a preventive exam since Feb. 1, 2026, now is a good time to schedule your visit before Feb. 28, 2027. You can contact the Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) Concierge team at 866-882-2034 for help finding the right provider.
