Help UTSW break a Guinness World Record, see a baseball game, and raise awareness for skin cancer – all at once

Want to help UT Southwestern break a Guinness World record, see a baseball game, and raise awareness for skin cancer, all at the same time? Join the UT Southwestern Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC) and the Frisco Roughriders for Strikeout Cancer Night!

As part of the SCCC’s Conquering Cancer initiative, the Roughriders are dedicating a series of games to raising awareness for the fight against cancer by partnering with SCCC. You will have three opportunities to attend a Strikeout Cancer Night: June 14, July 13, and August 23.

During the June 14 game, Dr. Thomas Froehlich will be throwing out the first pitch, patients will be recognized during the National Anthem and throughout the game, and players will wear special UTSW jerseys.

Also on June 14, join us for a chance to make history with Simmons Cancer Center. Before the closing fireworks show, attendees will be invited onto the field to break the world record for the most of pairs attaching awareness ribbons to each other simultaneously, to raise cancer awareness. Ribbons will be lavender in observance of all types of cancer.

You can purchase tickets through the Frisco Roughriders website.

Conquering Cancer is SCCC’s community outreach campaign to raise awareness on cancer prevention. More than 1 million people are diagnosed with cancer every year. Early detection through cancer screening or a cancer blood test can provide more options for successfully fighting the disease.

The campaign emphasizes that screening and prevention are key to conquering cancer. To find out more, visit the Conquering Cancer page on utswmed.org.
