Close up of hands typing on computer keyboard with overlay of envelope icons

Attacks from cybercriminals often start with a phishing email. Fraudulent links (URLs) and attachments found in emails can lead you to dangerous sites, putting your data, computer, and the UTSW network at risk. Pause and use caution when deciding whether to open a link or attachment.

Protect yourselves from these potential consequences of falling for an attack:

  • Ransomware
  • Compromised clinical systems, patient safety, and care
  • System and services outage
  • Damage to reputation, reduced revenue, and customer dissatisfaction
  • Loss of intellectual property
  • Monetary losses (e.g., compliance fines, response and remediation costs, legal fees)

Report questionable emails using the PhishAlarm button in Outlook. informationsecurity@utsouthwestern.edu questions to Information Security.
