Attacks from cybercriminals often start with a phishing email. Stay alert and don’t fall prey to these scams.

  • Examine all email sender addresses that contain an “External Mail” header.
  • Independently validate unexpected urgent email requests:
    • Internal sender – verify through Teams message or phone call to the sender.
    • External sender – do not respond or act until having the email vetted by Information Security.
  • Before clicking, hover over all email URL links to view the true website domain.
  • Click carefully to better protect UT Southwestern and our patients.
  • Be wary of email attachments.
  • Report phishing attempts to the PhishingResponse Email, or through your Microsoft Outlook email account using the “Report Message” button.
