Don't take the bait
Attacks from cybercriminals often start with a phishing email. Stay alert and don’t fall prey to these scams.
- Examine all email sender addresses that contain an “External Mail” header.
- Independently validate unexpected urgent email requests:
- Internal sender – verify through Teams message or phone call to the sender.
- External sender – do not respond or act until having the email vetted by Information Security.
- Before clicking, hover over all email URL links to view the true website domain.
- Click carefully to better protect UT Southwestern and our patients.
- Be wary of email attachments.
- Report phishing attempts to the PhishingResponse Email, or through your Microsoft Outlook email account using the “Report Message” button.
