It’s time for an IT spring cleaning
Ensure the safety of your data and devices by using the following IT spring cleaning tips for your UTSW and personal accounts.
- Backup important files and make sure you can restore from the backup.
- Delete unnecessary email messages, clear out the junk folder, and unsubscribe to emails you no longer need.
- Delete unused apps and file downloads from your devices. Update OS and anti-virus software, then reboot your device.
- Properly dispose of old hard drives.
- Remove unused online accounts and use passphrases greater than 10 characters, but preferably longer. Turn on multifactor login options, if available.
- Review security settings for your social networking accounts.
