Southwestern Academy of Teachers Outstanding Educator Award

Annually, the Southwestern Academy of Teachers recognizes outstanding educators across all schools at UT Southwestern for their exemplary efforts in education. The Outstanding Educator Award is a significant honor for educators at any stage of their teaching career. Awards are given to educators in the Graduate School of Biomedical Science, the Medical School (clinical and basic science), School of Public Health, Health Professions School and Graduate Medical Education. Awards are also given to outstanding community educators who are involved in the training of UT Southwestern learners. Nominations for these awards are solicited from faculty members and trainees and criteria for consideration include:

Teaching excellence in courses, clinical rounds, lectures, labs
Mentorship of learners
Education-related research activities
Curriculum or program development initiatives
Leadership in education activities, committees, programs
Affirmation of excellence based on testimonial comments from mentees, learners, peers and supervisors that demonstrate exemplary impacts on learners

The Southwestern Academy Teaching Evaluation and Recognition committee is tasked with evaluation of all nominations and recognition of winners at the annual celebration.
