David Altshuler Visits UT Southwestern

Dr. David M. Altshuler, Chief Scientific Officer at Vertex Pharmaceuticals visited the campus on March 27^th and 28^th, 2025 and gave both the Dennis K. Stone University Lecture in Biomedical Sciences and the Seldin Keynote Lecture at Internal Medicine Grand Rounds. Drawing on his own experiences in academics and at Vertex, he reviewed the development of new therapeutic agents to prevent and treat cystic fibrosis and sickle cell anemia. During the visit, a reception was held where selected faculty, DOCS scholars, and physician-scientist trainees gathered with Dr. Altshuler for a buffet and question/answer session.
