Dr. Parsia Vagefi Becomes Executive Vice Chair of Strategy and Finance

Parsia Vagefi, M.D.

The Department of Surgery would like to announce that Parsia Vagefi, M.D., will become the next executive vice chair of strategy and finance in our department. In this role, Dr. Vagefi will help guide departmental strategy, operations, and finances.

He will also assist the department chair in developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive strategic plan that ensures consistent growth and success across all departmental missions while ensuring the department is aligned with university initiatives. Apart from these duties, Dr. Vagefi will continue to serve as chief of the Division of Surgical Transplantation.
 
We are fortunate to have someone with Dr. Vagefi’s skill and experience accept this position. Under his leadership, the transplant division has doubled its number of surgeons and increased its transplant volumes by 165%. The division has become a leading site for abdominal transplantation in the Southwest based upon exceptional ratings for quality of care and cost-effectiveness, robust participation in clinical trials, and enhanced educational opportunities for trainees.
