Awards

Courtney Balentine, M.D., received the Paul B. Beeson K76 Career Development Award in Aging Research from the National Institute on Aging. He is the first UT Southwestern faculty member to receive the award, which recognizes future leaders in aging research. Dr. Balentine will use it to fund studies on the optimal approach for repairing inguinal hernias in older adults.

Announcements

Ryan Dumas, M.D., was selected to be an examination consultant for the American Board of Surgery. 

Emina Huang, M.D., was featured in UT Southwestern’s celebration of Women in Medicine Month. (Click on her photo to read her comments.)

Caroline Park, M.D., who is president of the Texas Association of Surgical Skills Laboratories, moderated the organization’s annual symposium on September 10, 2021.

Dr. Park was also selected to be the liaison for the Young Fellows Association on the committee on trauma of the American College of Surgeons.

Ganesh Sankaranarayanan, Ph.D., joined the inaugural editorial board of the newly established Human Factors in Healthcare journal published by Elsevier.
