Gloria Chang, M.D., won the best poster award in the upper GI, colorectal, and sarcoma virtual grand rounds at the annual meeting of the Society of Surgical Oncology on March 9-12. Her poster was titled Effect of Hospital Safety Net Designation on Treatment Delivery and Survival on Colorectal Cancer (coauthors: Nevarez N, Hester C, Karagkounis G, Chilakamarry S, Salgado Pogacnik J, Huang E, Yopp A).

Gilbert Murimwa, M.D., won the award for best poster about disparities at the Society of Surgical Oncology annual meeting on March 9-12 for Area Deprivation Index Predicts Survival and Access to Specialized Care in Pancreatic Cancer (coauthors: Thornton M, Karalis JD, Porembka MR, Augustine M, Wang S, Mansour J, Zeh H, Yopp A, Polanco P).

Madhuri Nagaraj, M.D., won second place in an essay competition sponsored by the Resident and Associate Society of the American College of Surgeons for her article, Competency-Based Training: Is There Any Other Way?

Sara Hennessy, M.D., chaired a session on robotics and acute care surgery at the annual meeting of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons on March 17 in Denver, Colorado.

Gilbert Murimwa, M.D., was selected to serve on the social media committee of the Annals of Surgical Oncology.

Sam Wang, M.D., served on the National Cancer Institute career development study section on March 3-4.

John Zuniga, D.M.D., Ph.D., conducted a skills course entitled Nerve Grafts in Head and Neck Reconstruction: A Technological Advancement to Improve Quality of Life on February 22 at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
