Khalil Chamseddin, M.D., received the Peter B. Samuels Award at the annual meeting of the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery for Outcomes of Upper Extremity Versus Transfemoral Access for Fenestrated-Branched Endovascular Aortic Repair (FB-EVAR) (coauthors: Timaran CH, Scott CK, Gustavo OS, Schanzer A, Mark F, Darren S, Eagleton MJ, Sweet MP, Beck AW).
Samuel Mandell, M.D., won the award for Best Paper in the burn care quality program at the annual meeting of the American Burn Association for Setting the Standard: Using a National Burn Registry to Benchmark Risk Adjusted Mortality.
Madhuri Nagaraj, M.D., a research resident who focuses on education and simulation, won the Outstanding Resident Teacher Award from the Association for Surgical Education.
Announcements
Jacqueline Byrd, M.D., received a master's degree in health and health care research from the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation at the University of Michigan. She also completed the leadership development program in the university’s Department of Surgery.
Madhuri Nagaraj, M.D., was appointed as a resident/fellow representative to the board of directors of the Association for Surgical Education.
Caroline Park, M.D., was appointed as a member of the publications committee of the Association for Academic Surgery. She was also named as the chair of communications/social media for the North Texas chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
Additionally, Dr. Park moderated the panel on technology opportunities in surgical training as part of the diversity in surgical training research workshop at the International Symposium on Medical Robotics on April 13 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Carlos Timaran, M.D., was a co-chair of the fellows & chief residents program at the annual meeting of the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery on March 19 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
