Dr. John Barr

Dr. John Barr was inducted as a fellow of the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery (SNIS) during the organization’s annual conference in July. This was the first year for induction of fellows, and it was bestowed only on past and current presidents of the society.

Dr. Barr served as the SNIS president from 2005-2006.

“Each fellow has demonstrated their dedication to ensuring more patients have access to effective treatments for stroke, brain aneurysms, and life-threatening other diseases,” said Dr. Blaise Baxter, an interventional neuroradiologist and current SNIS president. “Their leadership has not only shaped our profession, but also saved the lives of many patients over the years.”

In addition to serving as the chief radiology officer at Parkland Health & Hospital System, Dr. Barr is also Professor of Radiology and Neurological Surgery and a member of the Neuroradiology Division at UT Southwestern. He has served as president of the American Society of Spine Radiology since February 2017, and was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Radiology in 2016.
