Psychiatric Residents Organization

The Psychiatry Residents Organization (PRO) Council has the primary goals of fostering camaraderie among residents, building a home for residents, and reinforcing values of wellness, diversity and inclusion, advocacy, and mentorship.

The council comprises the chairs of all resident-led task forces and committees (Wellness, Diversity and Inclusion, LGBTQI+, Bad Outcomes, Mentorship, and Organized Psychiatry) and elected representatives of each residency class. The most senior PRO Class Representative (either a PGY-3 or PGY-4) serves as PRO Council President. The president chairs monthly PRO Council meetings, oversees and coordinates event planning among the committees/taskforces, and serves as liaison to the program leadership at monthly Residency Education Committee meetings.

PRO is involved in many programs, including community and social events, intern welcome party, lunch talks, movie nights, holiday parties, and the families program. The Families Program is a central part of PRO. Families are composed of residents across all years with two faculty mentors. Families meet once a quarter during didactics and twice a year for social events. Our Families Program provides residents with a built-in support system throughout residency training.
