Paid Time Off

Approved leave for fellows includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • 8 hours accrued each month for Vacation time
  • 2.66 hours accrued each month for Floating Holiday time
  • 8 hours accrued each month for Sick time
  • 5 days Administrative/Educational Leave (total during 2-year fellowship period)

Vacation and Sick time from year 1 roll over into year 2. Any excess vacation days remaining are paid out after the fellowship ends.

Fellows are eligible for family leave provisions. The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave to eligible fellows for certain family and medical reasons. FMLA provides leave to care for a newborn child or a child placed in the fellow’s home for adoption or foster care, for example, or to care for the fellow’s parent, spouse, or child with personal serious health conditions or for a serious personal health condition that prevents the fellow from performing work.

Extended leaves of absence affect the completion date of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship and eligibility for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Leave requests are evaluated on a case by case basis.

Education Fund

An education fund of $750 is allowed for the 2-year period of the fellowship. Books used for didactics courses are provided.
