Center for Cellular Therapies and Cancer Immunotherapy

The Center for Cellular Therapies and Cancer Immunology (CCTCI) at the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center unites a multidisciplinary group of investigators who are resolved to improve human health through immune engineering.

Integrated with UT Southwestern’s robust health system, we work to understand the molecular and cellular problems that arise in patients with cancer and autoimmune disease. Collaborating with the rich scientific environment at UTSW, we then design bespoke solutions to address these problems.

The Center endeavors to translate these discoveries into drugs that can be delivered in first-in-human trials at UTSW and beyond.

Our Science

CCTCI will bring together immunologists with cell, protein, genome, and chemical engineers to develop effective and safe immunotherapies for a wide range of diseases.

In the Choi lab, we are inspired by nature to identify engineering solutions for current therapeutic roadblocks. For example, we have engineered potent next-generation T cell therapies by modeling their design on naturally occurring “super-charged” T cells found in nature.
