Simulation Center Curriculum

A small group of residents examines surgical instruments and simulation models at a workstation.

Our simulation curriculum goes beyond technical proficiency and focuses on fostering multidisciplinary teamwork and effective communication, which are crucial for patient safety.

UT Southwestern's Simulation Center offers specialized endo-suites where residents can develop and refine their surgical skills. Through hands-on experience and realistic simulations, residents gain confidence and competence in advanced surgical procedures.

Anatomy Lab

Two residents hold surgical instruments and a practice model during a lab session.

During their rotation on Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, Ob/Gyn residents join fellows in a Pelvic Anatomy and Dissection Course that is embedded within the clinical rotation.

The Pelvic Anatomy and Laparoscopy Course with Fresh Cadaver Dissection includes hands-on surgical operations, laparoscopic training, and dissection of unembalmed cadavers.

This course, which is structured into four half-day sessions, has been part of the gynecologic surgery curriculum of the Ob/Gyn Residency Program since 2002.
