About Us

The Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management is committed to excellence in education, research, and patient care. Since its founding in 1943, our department has grown into one of the nation’s leading academic anesthesiology programs, offering a rich and diverse learning environment that reflects the vibrancy of Dallas, Texas. Our faculty prepare the next generation of anesthesiologists through world-class training across every subspecialty, immersive simulation experiences, and broad exposure to more than 150,000 procedural cases each year. With over 200 faculty physicians, a dedicated team of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Advanced Practice Providers, and more than 80 residents and fellows, we deliver outstanding perioperative care across University Hospital, Parkland Hospital, North Texas VA, Children’s Health, and Texas Scottish Rite. Beyond clinical excellence, we actively expand our research footprint, advancing both basic science and translational studies, while fostering strong ties to the Dallas community and hosting trainees from CRNA and Anesthesia Assistant programs nationwide
