Visas: Visa Bond Pilot Program
A Rule by the State Department on 08/05/2025
Any citizen or national traveling on a passport issued by the following countries, who is found otherwise eligible for a B1/B2 visa, must post a bond for $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000. The amount is determined at the time of the visa interview.

- Who Must Post a Bond: Citizens or nationals of designated countries applying for B1/B2 visas
- Bond Amounts: $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000 (set by consular officer at interview)
- Required Form: Department of Homeland Security Form I‑352
- Payment Method: U.S. Treasury Pay.gov online platform
- When to Submit: Only after a consular officer instructs the applicant
- Third‑Party Payments: Not permitted; U.S. Government is not responsible for payments made outside official systems
- Visa Guarantee: Posting a bond does not guarantee visa issuance
- Refund Warning: Fees paid without consular direction will not be refunded
Mandatory Ports of Entry
All travelers who post a visa bond must enter and exit the United States through one of the following:
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
- John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
- Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Failure to use these ports may result in denied entry or improper departure records.
