Full or Partial Travel Ban Effective June 9, 2025

The Presidential Administration has announced a full travel ban that will take effect on June 9, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. ET, affecting travelers from the following 12 countries: Afghanistan, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Burma (Myanmar), Republic of Congo, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen.

This full travel ban means that travelers from these countries may be denied boarding by airlines or refused entry to the U.S. if they attempt to enter after the ban goes into effect.

In addition, a partial travel ban will also begin at the same time for travelers from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela. Those affected may experience increased scrutiny, delays, or possible denial of entry based on their visa type and travel purpose.

We want to share an important update with you and assure you that your well-being is our top priority.

If you currently hold a visa and are in the U.S., please know that you are not affected by the travel bans at this time. However, circumstances may change rapidly, and we are closely monitoring the situation. So far, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) has received no further official guidance beyond this announcement.

For those of you currently outside the U.S. from the affected countries, we strongly recommend making travel plans to return to the U.S. before June 9, 2025, if you have valid visas, approved petitions, passports, and other necessary documents.

The OIA Immigration Manager will be reaching out directly to students and scholars who may be impacted to provide support, answer your questions, and help you navigate these changes.

We understand how stressful and uncertain this situation may feel, and we want you to know that we are here for you. Our commitment is to keep you informed and supported every step of the way. Please do not hesitate to contact us at 214-648-0010 if you need assistance or guidance.
