End of 540 Day Extension for EADs

Effective 30 October 2025, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will end its automatic 540-day extension for EAD renewals. 

This means, there will be no automatic extension for EAD renewal.

DHS cites the reason for this change is to allow for more vetting of visa holders. 

Applicants must file timely - at least 6 months before expiration.
