After remote learning and virtual events in 2020, learning shifted back to nearly normal in 2021 as some educational activities returned to in-person or hybrid models.

In 2020, UT Southwestern’s health care heroes rose to the challenge of COVID -19, never giving up on their commitment to save lives.

With the pandemic slowly subsiding in 2022, educational activities at UT Southwestern returned to the days when learners interacted in person for the most part – resuming a sense of community many had missed.

This past year offered more proof of that impact, including approval of a first-in-kind drug to treat a rare autoimmune disease that evolved from UTSW basic research to a finding that mechanical hearts can spur regeneration in dormant parts of failing hearts.
