During the late 1930s, when Tom and George Curry were born in El Paso, the city in far West Texas was about to undergo the same Depression-era population decline that hit every major American city.

UT Southwestern reached another milestone in transplant care by performing its first kidney-pancreas transplant since the Pancreas Transplant Program was reestablished in 2025. The transplant was organized by two expert physicians – Alissar El Chediak, M.D., Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine, and Christopher Nauser, M.D., Assistant Professor of Surgery.
