UT Southwestern is not only an excellent training ground for thousands of physicians, health care professionals, and scientists, but for some it is also the place where they met their significant others. In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Alumni Relations and Center Times contacted several couples who met at UTSW as medical, graduate, or health professions students, or as residents. Here are some of their stories of romance.

A new online Master of Clinical Nutrition – Nutrition Science degree program now offered by the School of Health Professions aims to meet a need in Texas and nationwide for advanced nutritional training of health care professionals.

Young Frederick Bonte spent his early years in Reading, Pennsylvania, yet he moved often with his family because his father, a metallurgical engineer, was assigned to various steel plants during the Great Depression.

Peterson aims to transform UTSW into a clinical research powerhouse

When students and faculty members asked for a way to better understand institutional racism in medicine and how to dismantle it, UT Southwestern quickly responded with a lecture series to get people talking about tough but important topics. The Anti-Racism Virtual Series launched in 2020, an unprecedented year filled with news of racial injustice on top of political unrest and a pandemic. The series, begun in October, has addressed topics such as the role of medical schools in health disparities, overcoming the effects of discrimination, and understanding the root causes of racism. Six experts from across the country have been featured in the series, which will continue through the academic year, said Dr. Shawna Nesbitt, Associate Dean of Student Diversity and Inclusion at UT Southwestern.

On April 11, as part of the President’s Lecture Series, Dr. Albin, a certified culinary medicine specialist, will discuss “A Delicious Antidote: The Current & Future Landscape of Food as Medicine.”
