PM&R Faculty Updates: Spring/Summer 2026
Michael Fediw, M.D., was named the Medical Director of Supportive Care, Integrative Oncology, and Oncology Rehabilitation at Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center in February.
New faculty have joined the Department!
- Stuart Yablon, M.D., has joined the Zale Lipshy Pavilion inpatient team. He has years of experience with traumatic brain injury, neurorehabilitation, and spasticity (and was even the mentor for our very own Benjamin Nguyen, M.D.). His skills will also be utilized as he serves as the Co-Director of the North Texas Brain Injury Model System.
- Faheem Mahomed, M.D., started at Children’s Health with our Pediatric Rehabilitation team. Dr. Mahomed is coming from Austin, where he worked at Dell Children’s Hospital after completing his fellowship at UC Davis.
We are excited to have both Dr. Yablon and Dr. Mahomed working with us.
Minh Nguyen, M.D., was nominated and appointed by UT Southwestern President Podolsky to represent the PM&R Department as part of the new Faculty Assembly established by the University of Texas Board of Regents.
Anjali Shah, M.D., has served on the Health Policy and Legislation Committee for the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R). The committee’s efforts this year have included:
- Advocating for the urgent implementation of fair payment for care provided by physicians
- Reforming and streamlining overly burdensome prior authorization processes
- Protecting federal investments in rehabilitation and disability medical research
Earlier in February, Dr. Shah advocated for expanding access to power standing systems to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services through the Independence Through Enhancement of Medicare and Medicaid (ITEM) Coalition.
For her compassion and dedication to patient care, Susan Murphy, M.D., was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society this past March. For years, patients and their families have known that Dr. Murphy embodies the definition of humanism in medicine. It is with great pride that the PM&R Department can brag about our fabulous geriatric physiatrist.
