A new online Master of Clinical Nutrition – Nutrition Science degree program now offered by the School of Health Professions aims to meet a need in Texas and nationwide for advanced nutritional training of health care professionals.

On April 11, as part of the President’s Lecture Series, Dr. Albin, a certified culinary medicine specialist, will discuss “A Delicious Antidote: The Current & Future Landscape of Food as Medicine.”

When students and faculty members asked for a way to better understand institutional racism in medicine and how to dismantle it, UT Southwestern quickly responded with a lecture series to get people talking about tough but important topics. The Anti-Racism Virtual Series launched in 2020, an unprecedented year filled with news of racial injustice on top of political unrest and a pandemic. The series, begun in October, has addressed topics such as the role of medical schools in health disparities, overcoming the effects of discrimination, and understanding the root causes of racism. Six experts from across the country have been featured in the series, which will continue through the academic year, said Dr. Shawna Nesbitt, Associate Dean of Student Diversity and Inclusion at UT Southwestern.

Today, UT Southwestern research into a hormone produced by the liver could have the potential to save thousands of lives lost each year to acute alcohol poisoning. Steven Kliewer, Ph.D., Professor of Molecular Biology and Pharmacology, will detail his work related to this topic on Feb. 8 as the first speaker in this year’s President’s Lecture Series.

Aston renovation enhances space for clinical research

Imaging scientist A. Dean Sherry, Ph.D., whose research on MRI molecular imaging agents has advanced our understanding of cancer, diabetes, and other diseases, has been appointed Professor Emeritus in the Advanced Imaging Research Center (AIRC).
