Three new facilities opened or broke ground to enhance care options for patients, including construction of The Texas Behavioral Health Center at UT Southwestern in December, addition of a new facility to treat cancer patients in November, and opening of UT Southwestern Medical Center at RedBird in August.

This past year offered more proof of that impact, including approval of a first-in-kind drug to treat a rare autoimmune disease that evolved from UTSW basic research to a finding that mechanical hearts can spur regeneration in dormant parts of failing hearts.

UT Southwestern offers a two-year Clinical Informatics Fellowship through the Department of Pediatrics to physicians who are certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or board-eligible in one of the ABMS primary specialties. The fellowship provides a broad clinical informatics experience and is supported by the Clinical Informatics Center.
