Introducing employee support through Headspace – a new resource

To the UT Southwestern Community:

As communicated earlier this fall, UT Southwestern has partnered with Headspace, a global leader in mindfulness, therapy, and employee assistance programs, to expand the service previously offered by the Employee Assistance Program. Our transition began in October with a new Employee Support Line that offers 24/7 access to mental health and work/life services at 855-420-0734.

Today, we are pleased to share the new employee support services, offered by Headspace, that are available to you and your families. Beginning Jan. 22, UTSW employees (and qualifying dependents) will have access to expanded services and resources through Headspace, including:

  • Employee Support Line: available 24/7 every day of the year at 855-420-0734
  • 1:1 mental wellness, text-based coaching
  • Meditation, sleep support, and mindfulness activities and guided courses
  • Personalized referrals for therapy and psychiatry
  • Personalized referrals to:
    • Child care resources
    • Adult/elder care
    • Legal services
    • Financial services
  • Critical incident support (unexpected employee death, workplace violence, societal events affecting the workforce, etc.)
  • Workplace seminars

In addition, employees can utilize Headspace’s mobile app, which offers guided meditation and mindfulness exercises, along with sleep support to help manage stress, build resilience, and navigate life’s challenges. Over the coming weeks, you will receive email communication directly from Headspace, providing more information on how to navigate its services and tools. All interaction with Headspace, through the app, phone, website, etc., is completely confidential and between the user and the coaches and licensed providers at Headspace.

UT Southwestern continues to be dedicated to actively supporting and improving the tools and resources available for our employees to manage their mental health and well-being effectively.
