Campus construction and traffic updates

Construction at CUH will reroute patients and employees through next week

A pair of construction projects could impact employees and visitors over the weekend and into next week.

Construction will alter access to the west staff entry to Clements University Hospital (CUH) from Garage C between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23. Although only one door will be closed during the work, staff using this entry between Garage C and the hospital should plan to use the alternate entry point (pictured below) for accessing and exiting the building.

Meanwhile, the main drive to the Emergency Department (ED) between Record Crossing Road and Southwestern Medical Avenue leading to CUH will have an altered traffic pattern from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, then from Monday, Oct. 25 through Friday, Oct. 29 during the same hours.

The area impacted is marked in the photo at right, which also shows the rerouted traffic pattern.

While this change in traffic pattern will affect some staff who use this path via vehicle, it will have the greatest impact on pedestrians traveling between Garage A and the ED.

People using this route from Garage A or the ED Entrance should:

  • Use only marked pedestrian crosswalks to cross the top of the entry drive
  • Use alternate cross walks in this area
  • Plan to use Southwestern Medical Avenue as an alternate route for vehicle traffic

Pedestrian detour signs will be posted. For patient drop-off and pickup, or to use valet parking, use the turnaround as seen below.
