New library resource: Cabell’s Journal Blacklist

Do you receive emails from publishers soliciting you to publish in their journal? Beware – it might be a predatory journal!

The UT Southwestern Health Sciences Digital Library & Learning Center is pleased to announce the latest addition to its resources to identify potential predatory journals: Cabell’s Journal Blacklist. This resource uses criteria to identify "deceptive, fraudulent, and/or predatory journals."

Cabell’s Journal Blacklist is not intended to be used in isolation but in combination with objective criteria to identify trusted journals. The explosion of new journals creates enormous challenges for any individual or group trying to separate the wheat from the chaff. Increased awareness by researchers of the questionable actions of predatory publishers is another component that helps combat exploitative journal practices.
