Forest Park, Stutz roads realignment project begins July 29

Update Sept. 16: The north exit lane (left side) of the Bass Center Garage, going onto Forest Park Road, will be closed for demolition and repair at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 and remain closed all day Saturday, Sept. 21. The lane will re-open at 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22.

The Forest Park Road and Stutz Road realignment project is scheduled to begin Monday, July 29. The goal of this project is to create a new entrance to the Moncrief Radiation Oncology Building (NF) that aligns with Stutz Road and provides a single driveway to the parking garage and loading dock.

This project includes realigning the two existing driveways into one driveway, building/renovating curbs and sidewalks, landscaping, lane restriping, and installing a flashing beacon at the intersection of Forest Park and Stutz roads.

Crews will work between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. The project will involve temporary barricades, cones, and lane closures. Depending on the work, flagmen may be posted to direct traffic.

To minimize disruption of operations in this area, construction will be phased as follows (click image for a larger version):

  • Phase one (estimated July 29-Aug. 21): Construction will occur in the front part of the Moncrief Oncology Building (NF). Access to the garage and the NF building will be via the existing north driveway.
  • Phase two (estimated Aug. 22-Sept. 9): Construction will occur in the northwest corner of the NF driveway. Access to the garage and the NF building will be via the newly constructed entrance, directly perpendicular to Stutz Road.
  • Phase three (estimated Sept. 10-25): Construction will occur on the southeast corner of Forest Park and Stutz roads. Access to the garage and NF building will be via the new entrance, directly perpendicular to Stutz Road. Lane striping will occur during this phase.
  • Phase four (estimated Sept. 26-Oct. 11): Construction will occur on the northeast corner of Forest Park and Stutz roads. Access to the garage and NF building will be via the new entrance, directly perpendicular to Stutz Road. Pole will be installed.

All road construction is subject to weather. Any expected delays will be communicated as quickly as possible. The Facilities Project Manager is Tom Timbol, who may be reached at 214-645-1791 or via Thomas.timbol@utsouthwestern.edu.
