Sponsor an undergraduate intern as part of the Conrad Summer Internship Program

Each year, UT Southwestern Medical Center partners with the office of Texas State Senator Royce West to place undergraduate students in the Emmett J. Conrad, M.D. Leadership Program with an 8-week summer internship placement in a number of departments throughout campus. To be eligible for an internship placement, students must first be selected as an E. J. Conrad Leadership Program participant, following a rigorous interview process. In addition, students must participate in various volunteer opportunities and community engagement initiatives throughout the spring semester.

This internship opportunity provides undergraduate students tangible experience to enhance their skill set, while also preparing them professionally for life after college. Student interns who are selected for internship placements at UT Southwestern typically start the first week of June and conclude their program the last week in July. Student interns work 40 hours a week for eight weeks, and are paid a stipend of $1,600 per month for two months, totaling $3,200 for the summer semester. Departments are encouraged to fund an intern for the summer semester by covering that $3,200 cost.
