Registration is open for the 2019 Heart Walk
Update August 19, 2019: T-shirts for the 2019 Heart Walk will be available next week. Please pick up shirts during the designated dates and times while supplies last. You must be registered to receive a shirt. Registration information can be found on this page.
Registration for the 2019 Dallas Heart Walk is now open.
The Heart Walk started in Dallas in 1994 and remains the largest American Heart Association (AHA) walk in the country. The event raises money to assist heart disease and stroke patients, fund research at UT Southwestern and at other leading research centers, and promote wellness initiatives. It also offers a way for loved ones to honor those who have succumbed to those diseases. The majority of the funds raised during the Dallas Heart Walk stay in North Texas. This year’s walk will take place on Saturday, Sept. 14, with opening ceremonies beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the base of Reunion Tower.
Help UTSW secure the highest number of walkers this year. Because of UTSW’s continued support and leadership, last year we recruited 4,646 walkers consisting of employees, friends, and family members. This year our goal is 5,000 walkers.
You can register for the Heart Walk at the following Benefits and Wellness Fairs at the wellness table:
- Friday, July 19 at Clements University Hospital, Lecture Hall Room 2.138, 10:30 a.m–1:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, July 24 in Gooch Foyer, 10:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Register as a Team Captain (aka Team Coach)
Team captains are responsible for recruiting at least 15 walkers, ensuring that those walkers are registered, coordinating any requests from your team, and leading your team during the event.
1. Visit the UT Southwestern Home Page on the Dallas Heart Walk website here.
2. Click on the button that says Create a Team.
3. Sign in with your User Name and Password from prior years, or Join as a New Participant if you have never registered for the Heart Walk.
4. UT Southwestern will auto-populate in the Team Company dropdown box, but you must select the district your team is associated with by clicking the drop-down arrow.
5. Create a team name and set your team’s fundraising goal.
6. Continue following the prompts and enter all the information required. Note: Remember to use your work email so that it makes it easier to contact you when your T-shirt is ready for pickup.
Join a team
If you do not wish to be a team captain, join a team that has already been established within your district.
1. Visit the UT Southwestern Home Page on the Dallas Heart Walk website here.
2. Scroll down to find the team you wish to join in your district, or the UT Southwestern Individual Walkers team if you wish to join as an individual walker. Click on Join next to the team you want to join.
3. Sign in with your User Name and Password from prior years, or Join as a New Participant if you have never registered for the Heart Walk.
4. Continue following the prompts and enter all the required information. Note: Remember to use your work email so that it makes it easier to contact you when your T-shirt is ready for pickup.
Join as an individual walker
If you do not wish to be a team captain, or join a team that has already been established within your district, you can join as an individual walker.
1. Visit the UT Southwestern Home Page on the Dallas Heart Walk website here.
2. Scroll down to find the team named “UT Southwestern Individual Walker. Click on Join next to the team name.
3. Sign in with your User Name and Password from prior years, or Join as a New Participant if you have never registered for the Heart Walk.
4. Continue following the prompts and enter all the required information. Note: Remember to use your work email so that it makes it easier to contact you when your T-shirt is ready for pickup.
Important reminder
Participants can pick up a special-edition UT Southwestern Heart Walk T-shirt, at locations to be announced later. If your friends and family will be joining you, make sure to register their names so they can have a T-shirt as well. You must register before picking up your T-shirt(s).
