Calling all artists: On My Own Time contest open for submissions

UPDATE (July 19): OMOT deadline extended!

Because some entrants have reported issues accessing the OMOT submission forms on the BCA website, the submission period for entries has been extended to Friday, July 27. While the problem is being fixed, artists may enter their works manually by filling out a visual arts form or a literary arts form, and sending it to Abby Howard at the North Texas Business Council for the Arts, via abby.howard@ntbca.org.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and thanks to all those who have entered their artworks so far!

Original story follows:

Put on the finishing touches and enter your masterpiece in the 18th annual On My Own Time (OMOT) art show!

The submission period begins June 19 and runs through July 20.

Visual art categories include:

  • Works on Canvas
  • Works on Paper
  • Black and White Photography
  • Color Photography
  • Enhanced Photography and Computer Art
  • Sculpture
  • Ceramics, Wood, and Glass
  • Jewelry and Metal
  • Mixed Media
  • Textiles and Fiber
  • Video, Film, and Animation
  • Corporate (or Department) Collaboration (a fabulous employee engagement opportunity!)
  • Sustainable Art (UT Southwestern’s own category)

Literary categories:

  • Fictional Short Story
  • 10-Word Story
  • Creative Nonfiction
  • Open Verse Poetry

All visual entries will be displayed during UT Southwestern’s Art Show from July 30-September 21. Winning entries for each category will be featured in a regional exhibition at NorthPark Center, and for the fourth year, authors of winning Literary Art submissions will be invited to read their works aloud during Literary Night at the AT&T Performing Arts Center in October.

OMOT is open to all UT Southwestern employees and students, so don’t miss the opportunity to share your artistic passion with your colleagues. Visit the OMOT website for program rules and to access the Business Council for the Arts submission form.
