How you can join a celebration 75 years in the making
The UT Southwestern 75th anniversary celebration is going to be a gathering to remember. Join the party 3-5 p.m. Thursday, May 10, outside on the McDermott Plaza on South Campus (around the Visitor Information Center). Pick up your 75th anniversary T-shirt, grab a snack, enjoy live music from UTSW employee band the Transactivators, and hear remarks from special guests.
That’s right – there will be live music on McDermott Plaza. The Transactivators include UTSW’s Dr. Eric Olson, Professor and Chair of Molecular Biology and Director of the Hamon Center for Regenerative Science and Medicine; Dr. Jay Schneider, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine (Cardiology) and Associate Director of the Hamon Center; Dr. David Rogers, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology; and Stephen Johnson, Software Systems Supervisor in Molecular Biology.
So far, more than 1,800 employees have said they’ll be there – if you haven’t already, let us know you’re coming (you only need to reply once).

What’s the best way to get there?
Parking will be extremely limited, so we recommend taking a campus shuttle – extra shuttles will be in place. If you must drive, overflow parking will be available in student lots.
But it's May in Texas! What if it rains?
If it rains right before or on the day of the celebration, the show will still go on – it will just move indoors to the South Campus food court.
Can’t make it to South Campus for the celebration?
We know many employees can’t make it to the McDermott Plaza event due to location or time restrictions – so we’ve enlisted volunteers to deliver T-shirts and/or cookies to several UT Southwestern locations across Dallas-Fort Worth.
For the following locations, a specific conference room has been reserved for a specific time for volunteers to distribute shirts.
Friday, May 4, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.:
- Professional Office Buildings 1 and 2 – POB 1, 10th floor conference room (102A)
- Aston Building – conference room (U8.110CR)
- Zale Lipshy University Hospital – 3rd floor conference room (ZL3.128)
- Outpatient Building – conference room (WA4.110)
Tuesday, May 8, 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.:
- Clements University Hospital – 2nd floor CUH Lecture Hall
Wednesday, May 9, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.:
- Brookriver building – Conference Room 109 South (UTSW conference room on Atrium level)
- Pickens Medical Education & Conference Center (NG) – Food court/lobby area
For the following locations, volunteers will be dropping off shirts, cookies, and candy and a point person will send out an email to notify employees where they can pick up their items.
