Vision

The study of RNA has always been a fundamental aspect of biology, and the events of the last decade have brought this field to the forefront of biomedical science. Research focused on the regulation and function of RNA has increasingly demonstrated its central role in diverse physiological and pathophysiological processes, and multiple RNA-based therapeutics have already reached the clinic. In light of the growing significance of this research area, UT Southwestern Medical Center has launched the RNA Biology and Therapeutics Initiative to highlight our institutional strength in RNA science and to further build this community on our campus.

Mission

Our mission is to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among our community of RNA biologists, amplify their discoveries, and highlight UT Southwestern’s leadership in RNA science. Through innovation, education, and outreach, the RNA Biology and Therapeutics Initiative will advance the understanding of RNA’s role in health and disease, propel scientific progress, and promote the development of new RNA-based therapeutic strategies for human disease.
