Dallas Mavericks and UT Southwestern strengthen strategic partnership
UT Southwestern to serve as Official Team Doctors of the Dallas Mavericks, in addition to being Official Health Care Partner

DALLAS – Oct. 21, 2025 – Today the Dallas Mavericks and UT Southwestern Medical Center announced a multiyear expansion of their strategic partnership. UT Southwestern, the team’s Official Health Care Partner since 2019, will now also serve as the Official Team Doctors for the franchise. The UT Southwestern logo will appear on the front shoulder of Mavericks pregame shooting shirts, and prominent signage will be featured throughout American Airlines Center.
As trusted community leaders whose missions are rooted in teamwork, safety, and excellence, the Mavericks and UT Southwestern will continue collaborating to deepen engagement across North Texas. The expanded partnership will draw on UT Southwestern’s clinical expertise to enhance the Mavericks’ health and wellness programs and support key community initiatives, including game-day theme nights and Game Ball Delivery, where patients from UT Southwestern’s Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center support groups deliver the game ball to referees at each home game.
“Working alongside community leaders like UT Southwestern Medical Center elevates and diversifies our footprint to better serve fans and support the future of health and wellness in North Texas,” said Dallas Mavericks President Ethan Casson. “With the expansion of our long-standing partnership to now include Official Team Doctors, our players will receive the quality medical care synonymous with UT Southwestern and its team of medical professionals.”
“This collaboration is ultimately about people – those we care for, those we work alongside, and those we serve across North Texas,” said Marc Nivet, Ed.D., M.B.A., Executive Vice President for Institutional Advancement at UT Southwestern. “As the Official Team Doctors, we’re proud to support the Mavericks organization and to create meaningful experiences that uplift and connect our patients and the community.”
To tip off this partnership renewal, Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell will visit patients at UT Southwestern later this afternoon. For media interested in coverage, high-resolution images and b-roll can be provided following the event, upon request.
