Daniel Hommes, M.D., Ph.D., grew up in the Netherlands, playing sports and even ping-pong with royalty - but losing his mother young shaped everything that followed. Driven to push forward, Dr. Daniel Hommes went from Olympic-level rowing to a career in medicine. Then, at 50, a cancer diagnosis put him on the other side of care. That moment changed how he sees patients, vulnerability, and the system itself. Now at UT Southwestern, he’s working to turn innovation into real impact. And if you ask him - he’s only just begun.
