Eligibility
To be eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program, a UT Southwestern employee must meet the following criteria before the course start date:
- Work full time and be benefits-eligible (minimum 32 hours per week).
Please note: Postdoctoral fellows or fellows/residents whose primary employment is not with UT Southwestern are not eligible. - Complete 12 months of total service with UTSW.
- Finish any required probationary periods (e.g., employees who have been rehired have a six-month probationary period).
- Remain in “good standing” (no disciplinary action received within the past 12 months).
- Receive a Satisfactory Performance Evaluation (documented as “Meets Expectations” or higher).
Please note: If Performance Evaluation shifts to “Needs Improvement” or “Unsatisfactory,” the employee will become ineligible.
An employee may become ineligible if they:
- Shift to PRN or part time and work fewer than 32 hours per week.
- Submit their application or reimbursement documentation after the 30-day deadline.
- Do not receive a passing grade in their designated course(s):
- Undergraduate – Associates/Bachelors
- Letter grades must be a “B” or higher.
- Other grading must be Passing or Satisfactory (subject to evaluation)
- Graduate and Nursing Degrees – B.S.N, M.S.N, Master's, Ph.D., etc.
- Letter grades must be a “B” or higher.
- Other grading must be Passing or Satisfactory (subject to evaluation)
- Undergraduate – Associates/Bachelors
