Student Courses
The Office of Quality, Safety, and Outcomes Education provides a variety of courses designed for medical students and learners in the School of Health Professions. These programs offer formal training and experience in quality improvement, giving students the opportunity to collaborate with faculty mentors and contribute to meaningful QI projects. Through this coursework, learners build practical skills that enhance patient care, support system-level improvement, and prepare them for future leadership in healthcare quality and safety.
QI Boot Camp
June 1–5, 2026
A hands-on introduction to quality improvement and patient safety that prepares learners to lead QI projects and transition into the Summer QI Fellowship.
QI Summer Fellowship
8 weeks | Summer
An immersive fellowship pairing learners with faculty mentors to lead real-world quality improvement and patient safety projects. Includes weekly coaching and results in conference-ready scholarly work.
Scholarly Activity in QI
12-week mentored experience
A mentored scholarly track where medical students design and lead authentic quality improvement and patient safety projects with guidance from QI faculty experts.
Foundations, Application, Methodology & Effectiveness in QI (FAME- QI)
A project-based QI course for PA students featuring live didactics, weekly virtual coaching, and mentored application of QI tools to real clinical projects.
