Positions Available – Basic Science
Look for positions in these basic science areas:
Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center invites applications from candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent and be engaged in innovative research within biochemistry, molecular biology, or at the interface between chemistry and biology. The Department is strongly research-oriented with major programs in discovery biology, metabolism, RNA biology, enzymology, carbohydrate biology, and drug discovery. We are particularly interested in strong candidates who will complement our existing strengths.
The Department of Biochemistry at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center invites applications from candidates for a tenure-track faculty position in organic chemistry at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The Department is strongly researched-focused with major programs in synthetic chemistry, chemical biology, and drug discovery. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent and be engaged in innovative research within organic chemistry, including synthesis, chemical biology, and computational studies. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishment and experience.
Biophysics
The Department of Biophysics has an ongoing search for Chair of the department. We seek outstanding candidates who study molecular mechanisms of biological processes, in vitro or in vivo, using physical and quantitative approaches. We particularly encourage applications from those with backgrounds in single-molecule spectroscopy or quantitative imaging, but are interested in all excellent candidates regardless of technical approach. Scientists within the Department of Biophysics participate in a vibrant, interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and highly collaborative research community within the Medical Center, and enjoy unparalleled access to state-of-the-art research cores in cryo-electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, macromolecular NMR spectroscopy, molecular biophysics, cellular imaging, protein chemistry, and high-throughput screening.

Microbiology (Bacteriology)
The Department of Microbiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) seeks a new faculty member at the Assistant Professor (tenure-accruing track) level. Ideal candidates will develop a front-rank, competitive, and independent research program in the field of microbial pathogenesis. Some preference may be given to candidates working on bacterial pathogens. At present, research in the department spans a wide range of topics including viral and bacterial gene regulation, metabolism and motility of bacterial pathogens, animal reservoirs for bacteria and viruses, microbiota, innate immune responses, evolution of microbes and host defense, molecular interplay between viruses and bacteria and their hosts, and resistance to antimicrobials.
