At UT Southwestern, allergy and immunology care is delivered through two distinct divisions. One is within the Department of Pediatrics and the other is within the Department of Internal Medicine.
Under the leadership of J. Andrew (Drew) Bird, M.D., Ph.D., these divisions work closely together to provide state-of-the-art care in an environment that prioritizes excellence in research and education.

Faculty
Our Allergy and Immunology faculty—whether pediatric- or internal medicine-based—are all certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. They are clinically active and deeply committed to teaching. In addition, volunteer faculty from private practice enrich our clinical and educational programs, ensuring trainees benefit from diverse expertise and real-world perspectives.
Education & Training
Our faculty deliver comprehensive medical education for students, residents, and fellows through inpatient and outpatient training. They lead instruction for internal medicine residents on evaluating and managing allergic diseases, asthma, and immunodeficiency, while providing didactic teaching on allergy and immunology during departmental conferences and inpatient consultations.
