Message from the Chief Residents

Hello and welcome to the UT Southwestern Family Medicine Residency Program!

As Chief Residents, we are honored to represent our program at UT Southwestern. Friends first and co-chiefs second, we channel our strengths with the residency’s vision to enrich the experience of our co-residents as growing physicians and people as a whole.

We have had the honor of experiencing our residents develop the adaptability and clinical confidence necessary to practice family medicine in any setting throughout residency.

We also encourage our residents to explore their passions as they grow into confident and compassionate physicians, supported by our various tracks and the space and time to build their own path. Whether your career goals include outpatient practice, hospital medicine, academic medicine, fellowship training, or community leadership, you will find mentors and opportunities to help you achieve them.

Residency is one of the most challenging and rewarding periods of medical training, and we believe that where you train matters just as much as how you train, which makes us all the more privileged to be a part of such a great institution. One of the greatest strengths of our program is the breadth of clinical experiences available to our residents across multiple sites, providing exposure to diverse health systems and patient populations with a wide range of medical needs.

The best part of our program, as we see and experience it, is the people, relationships, and connections. Our residents, faculty, and staff come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique perspectives, experiences, and interests to our program. We foster a culture of collaboration, respect, and camaraderie. We celebrate each other's successes, support one another through challenges, and work together toward a shared goal of providing exceptional care for our patients and community.

We are proud of the physicians we are becoming and are grateful to be part of a residency family that values education, wellness, and service. We invite you to explore our residency, meet our residents, and discover what makes UT Southwestern Family Medicine such an exceptional place to become a family physician.
