Faculty Wellness hosts events throughout the year to support the professional and personal growth, development, and empowerment of our faculty.
Faculty Wellness Retreat
This day-long in-person retreat exclusively for faculty allows participants to engage in interactive and practical workshops to enhance their personal professional wellbeing as well as learn to be agents of change in creating a culture of wellness at UT Southwestern at a local, divisional, departmental, and divisional level. This year’s inaugural Faculty Wellness Retreat will be June 9th, 2023, from 8 a.m. to 5 pm. at Pegasus Park.
Annual Wellness Event
Since 2019, the Office of Faculty Wellness has hosted an annual Wellness Event for the entire UTSW Community that highlights the importance of personal, professional, and institutional wellbeing. For 2023, Wellness Week, May 15-19, centers on the theme of "Elevate Your Mind, Body, and Career."
Weekly Mindfulness Event
Friday Mindfulness
Spend 45 minutes in a guided mindfulness meditation practice led by Bryan Elwood.
Mindfulness Program for Faculty Physicians
Option 1: Online introduction to mindfulness and burnout prevention (1-hour duration)
Option 2: The Mindfulness & Burnout Prevention Program, a four-week training module, provides:
- A description of burnout, factors, and tendencies leading to it
- An explanation of the mindfulness concept and how it improves resistance to burnout
- Training in meditation techniques, for the explicit purpose of acquiring personal skills at mindfulness meditation and burnout prevention
