Clinical Electives

Senior Clinical Elective 

These rotations will serve as a clearinghouse for varied types of international health experiences to include formal clinical visiting clerkships or externships at an international university-affiliated program or similar experience under the guidance of a designated faculty member. These rotations will advance knowledge of global health issues through clinical service by facilitating a means for the student to do the following:

• Apply clinical knowledge and skills to address critical healthcare issues in a low-resource, international healthcare setting emphasizing an ethical and culturally competent approach.
• Gain insight into healthcare disparities and the social determinants of health.
• Broaden clinical exposure and experience in the evaluation/management of diseases endemic in developing countries and rarely encountered in the United States.
