In September, Dr. Corbitt joined UT Southwestern as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and as a pediatric surgeon at Children’s Medical Center Dallas. When she completed her pediatric surgery fellowship at the University of Michigan in July 2020, she became the first Black female pediatric surgeon in the United States to also hold a Ph.D. Hers is in cellular and molecular pathology.

Dr. David A. Minna, Professor of Internal Medicine in the Rheumatic Diseases Division at UT Southwestern and a pioneer in incorporating musculoskeletal ultrasound into the specialty’s clinical practice, passed away Nov. 5 after an extended battle with cancer. He was 73.

The Prevalence Study has since expanded to allow anyone living in Dallas or Tarrant counties to participate via a brief survey online or by phone. Based on responses to the survey questions, some individuals may be selected for further testing to determine if they have COVID-19 or have previously been infected.
