On Feb. 8, UT Southwestern will launch a community festival, medIDEAS, at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Frisco, its newest regional medical center. Locals in Frisco were treated to a medIDEAS sneak peek during the Dec. 14 grand opening of Texas Health Frisco.

Dr. Lynne M. Kirk, Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine and Family and Community Medicine, has been awarded the Alfred Stengel Memorial Award by the American College of Physicians (ACP), a national organization of internists.

Dr. Jon Williamson, Professor and Dean of the UT Southwestern School of Health Professions, has been inducted as a Fellow of the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP). The honor recognizes his long-term contributions to the organization and to health professions.

On Jan. 15, the UT Southwestern community honored the legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at its 33rd annual campus commemorative celebration. Dr. Dayna Bowen Matthew, keynote speaker and Professor at the University of Virginia School of Law, talked about the history of racial inequality in the American health care system and how to address ongoing disparities.

Danchees Ingram, Associate Director in UT Southwestern’s Office of Student Financial Aid, was recently awarded the prestigious Trailblazer Award by the Texas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (TASFAA) at its annual conference in Fort Worth.

Division of Cardiology Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine Dr. Ambarish Pandey in the Division of Cardiology has received The Steven N. Blair Award for Excellence in Physical Activity Research from the American Heart Association (AHA). The award recognizes a highly meritorious research presentation in the areas of exercise, physical activity, and cardiovascular health.
