During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Division of Breast Imaging invited the UT Southwestern community to submit decorated bras as part of its ninth annual Bra Decorating Contest. The goal of this annual campaign is to generate awareness, early detection, and screening of breast cancer. During this year’s annual Black History Month celebration, UT Southwestern and Parkland Health leaders described critical efforts to eliminate neighborhood- and race-based health care disparities, giving concrete examples of progress in the Redbird area of southern Dallas.

Professor of Pediatrics Norberto Rodriguez-Baez, M.D., a physician with a long record of helping minority medical students and college students interested in pursuing the field, has been named the new Associate Dean of Student Affairs for the Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion.

Reducing the time for cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) from an hour to under five minutes might seem like a harebrained idea – but as the newest project funded by a Haberecht Wildhare-Idea Research Grant, this concept will move closer to reality. The 2024 recipient of this award is Qing Zou, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Radiology, and in the Advanced Imaging Research Center.

On campus, the Brown-Goldstein legacy includes mentoring 175 students and postdoctoral fellows, discovering at least three major signaling pathways, and building a uniquely supportive campus culture while pursuing multiple lines of research.
