UT Southwestern’s Division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine works together to form a true multidisciplinary program.

Samir Parikh, M.D., had one eye on the rich history of UT Southwestern and the other on its promising future when he accepted the position of Chief of the Division of Nephrology in the Department of Internal Medicine.

Daniela Nicastro, Ph.D., Professor of Cell Biology, helped plan and direct UT Southwestern’s Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility, which opened in 2016 with microscopes that can accomplish such feats. At 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, she will give a virtual talk titled “Cryo-Electron Microscopy: Opening a Frosty Window into Cells” as the next speaker in the President’s Lecture Series. UT Southwestern’s nurses were once again honored for excellence Sept. 15 as the Medical Center earned redesignation as a Magnet organization from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

In conjunction with Division of Pediatric Critical Care Chief Jessica Moreland, M.D., and the Moreland lab, Dr. Nichols’ latest study, published in the Journal of Leukocyte Biology, investigated why some children with Type 1 diabetes develop a complication called diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).
