Six UT Southwestern faculty investigators and clinicians – from Internal Medicine, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Dermatology, and Pediatrics – have been elected into two of the country’s most respected medical honor societies: three into the American Society for Clinical Investigation and three into the Association of American Physicians. Drs. Denise Marciano, Joshua Mendell, and Richard Wang were inducted into the ASCI, and Drs. Suzanne D. Conzen, Ralph DeBerardinis, and Dwight Towler joined the ranks of the AAP.

Dr. Elan D. Louis joined UT Southwestern as Chair of Neurology and Neurotherapeutics. Considered by many to be the world’s leading scholar on tremor disorders.

Two months earlier, the novel coronavirus turned my world – the entire world – upside down. For nearly two weeks, I was alone in my bedroom with excruciating headaches, unrelenting body aches, and inescapable fear. There were moments when I wasn’t sure I’d make it.

In celebration of Nurses Week, May 6-12, we reached out to a cross-section of UT Southwestern nurses who work every day to embody the institution’s values of excellence, innovation, teamwork, and compassion as they care for UTSW patients and contribute to important research. That’s what two organic chemists at UT Southwestern did when hand sanitizer fell into short supply as the COVID-19 pandemic spread across the country. Now the lab-produced sanitizer is helping keep hands germ-free for UT Southwestern caregivers and staff.
