The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and UT Southwestern Medical Center hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony today to celebrate the opening of the Texas Behavioral Health Center in Dallas.

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) today elected three UT Southwestern Medical Center scientists into its membership. Election to the NAS is one of the highest honors in the United States for American scientists.

UT Southwestern Medical Center is ranked No. 1 among healthcare institutions worldwide by Nature Index for publishing high-quality research in all subjects for the 12-month period that ended Feb. 28, 2026.

UTSW honors Dr. King’s life and legacy in annual MLK celebration

When 2020 brought unprecedented challenges to the UT Southwestern community, our country, and the world, we rose to the challenge.

Despite a return to normalcy not happening in 2021, UT Southwestern’s faculty, staff, students, and trainees were unstoppable, embracing a new reality.

Three new facilities opened or broke ground to enhance care options for patients, including construction of The Texas Behavioral Health Center at UT Southwestern in December, addition of a new facility to treat cancer patients in November, and opening of UT Southwestern Medical Center at RedBird in August.

With the pandemic slowly subsiding in 2022, educational activities at UT Southwestern returned to the days when learners interacted in person for the most part – resuming a sense of community many had missed.

Former UTSW postdoctoral fellow Simon Lebek, M.D., has won the Brown-Goldstein Award for research.
